Q: I take symbicort. The box said 1 puff twice a day but the generic instruction manual said 2 twice a day.?
I took two puffs this morning and I should have taken one. I did not repeat the process tonight so I do not overdose. Am I okay. I will continue the normal process tomorrow.
A: You don’t want to miss with corticosteroids, you should better ask your doctor.
Q: Symbicort is to much money?
Is there any Medications out there that work like the Symbicort? Because I have limited benefits at work and now it will not cover my Symbicort prescriptions. I did go to the web site and did the discount on line but it only good for one free refill. It about 265.00 per inhaler. Is there any generic brands that’s compare to the Symbicort. I can’t afford it. I suffer from asthma.
Thanks
A: Symbicort is made of 2 drugs….pulmicort and foradil. You can check with your doc and see if he can give a prescription for the 2 drugs seperately instead of the combination (symbicort). It is much cheaper that way…from what I remember you can get it for less than 1/2 of what Symbicort would cost.
Q: Life without insurance?
I recently made the decision to not only move out of my parents house, but to move out of state. I’m 21 years old, have 2 years left of college, and my parents are currently paying for my cell phone, health and car insurance. They are very strongly against my moving and (as they should) are cutting me off. I have found some great deals on car insurance, but it’s the health I’m worried about. My job doesnt offer health insurance and I wasn’t super worried about it until I found out that there is no generic version of a medicine I cannot live without. I am a severe asthmatic and take Symbicort. I cannot go without it, but there is not generic version. Is anyone with asthma living without insurace? Any advice for a gal trying to make it on her own without insurance?

Q: Bronchitis or allergies?? it’s been over 2 months help!!?
I’m 19, college student, a non-smoker! So I’ve had bronchitis since right before finals at the end of April..and I’m still sick. I’ve been on four different sets of medicine…from 3 different doctors:
1st: Amoxicillin, Mucinex, generic nasal sprays
2nd: Levaquin, some shot that would kill strep throat, cough drops..
3rd: A mix of Amoxicillin + something else, Symbicort (inhaler), Dexpak (anti-inflammatory), Mullein herb
4th: Another antibiotic..I think Minicillin or something, Symbicort (inhaler), Omnaris (nasal spray), Clarinex (allergy pill)
5th: Prednisone (steroid/anti-inflammatory), Astepro (nasal spray)
On top of all those medicines, I normally take birth control pills (for cramps) and sleep-aids because I always have trouble sleeping..so I’ve been on lots of drugs as you can see..
SOO the 4th batch of medicines obviously weren’t working so I went back to my doctor and that’s where the 5th batch of goodies came from. However, i took my first doses of each last night, and the Prednisone made me really bitchy and the Astepro left a horrible taste in the back of my throat and mouth so I couldn’t breathe without wanting to throw up.. so I’m planning on stopping those for now. I wouldn’t want to get fired from my internship for being a bitch.
My doctor thinks it’s allergies because my nasal passages are really backed up, and he thinks the mucus is draining into my throat causing me to cough. He thinks maybe I’m allergic to something at work (interning at Frito-Lay, so I’m exposed to warehouses and stuff constantly). He diagnosed me with bronchitis at first, but now doesn’t think it is because he said my lungs sounded clear and I passed my breathing test..
can someone please help me??? I don’t think it’s good for my body to take different cocktails of medicines continuously…it’s been like 3 months already… still consistently coughing up phlegm and have really bad nasal congestion..
I don’t want school to start and I still be sick.. HELP!!
A: I know what I’m going to say will sound absurd to you but
have you heard about Silverbiotics? You can get it at GNC or vitaminshoppe.
It’s non toxic silver solution used to MRSA infections that are antibiotic resistant and used to treat so many bacteria/virus related issues.
Trust me take what it says on the bottle for a few weeks and they will go away.
Here’s the legit research of combining antibiotics and Silverbiotics to treat various illnesses and conclusion finds that taking them both have either synergistic/additive qualities to kill bacteria/virus.

AND NO. DON’T TAKE PREDNISONE. IS THERE DOCTOR SERIOUS? I’m a pre-med student and wow.
Prednisone suppresses your immune system so that you don’t react to the bacteria/virus infection that’s in your system.
That’s the worst drug. And it will cause bloating, moon face, osteoporosis(if taken for long term), depression, etc.
Q: Asthma, 10 weeks premature, do I need MedicAlert? (details)?
I already have a medical ID bracelet, but I saw an asthma educator/respiratory therapist and she said if I ever go to the emergency room, I need to tell them I was born ten weeks premature and make sure they realize I was born in 1991 (which apparently makes a big difference).
My current ID bracelet is from Vital ID, and has a strip of paper in it that says I my name, that I have asthma, that I’m an organ donor and has two emergency contact numbers, and my medications. However, it doesn’t have enough room for other details of my medical history.
For my asthma I take Symbicort 200/6 2-4 puffs twice daily (I adjust treatment for flares), and Singulair 10 mg, as well as 2 puffs of Ventolin as needed. I also have retinopathy of prematurity and wish to be an organ donor. With my medical history, as well as the fact that if I were in an emergency the RT thinks they should know I was premature (oxygen, ventilator, NICU after birth, etc). I’ve had asthma for two years (I’m 18), and have been on prednisone once, and have never gone to the ER for my asthma. (Although, we asthmatics are notorious for pushing things . . .)
What of this information do I need engraved on a medical ID bracelet? Should I get a MedicAlert bracelet with the hotline number considering my history, or is a generic one okay?
Thanks.
A: I think your ID bracelet should include information that will influence ER doctors’ medical decisions if you were brought in unconscious. Although I’m not familiar with the significance of 1991, the details of your prematurity (ventilator, ROP) and your wish to be an organ donor would not likely change how the docs would treat you. I think you’re okay leaving the ID as-is.
